This week we have been learning about the Olympics, so we chose write about Emma Twigg because Her nephew is in our class his name is Rico.I really like this activity because we got look deep in the Olympics.

Emma Twigg, serial Olympian, advanced to the semi finals with a convincing win in the Quarter finals last Sunday in Tokyo.


This is Emma’s fourth Olympics and her fourth time advancing to the Semi finals. In Rio she placed fourth by less than a second and she has returned reinvigorated by the culture in the NZ team and she says ‘it’s an honour wearing the Silver Fern’. She also has had expert coaching tips from her nephew who said she needs to train harder. After this advice she pushed herself to row over 26km daily which she told him from Tokyo.


She was encouraged to row by her father. She is a single sculler. She started rowing at the age of 14 while in Napier girls high school in 2001. When she was 16 she won her first national title She first represented New Zealand internationally at the 2003 World Rowing Junior Championships in Athens.As rowing became more serious, she moved from Napier to Cambridge to be at the high performance facility.Her fastest time is 7 minutes 35 seconds.She is a single sculler and has been a world champion in the last 10 years.she also won the Henley Royal Regatta. At the 2019 World Rowing Championship. Where she won silver.
